From 8 to 10 of October 2004 the Bulgarian town Sliven was host of the Fourth International Mountain Film Festival. The vice-mayor of Sliven Dr. Penko Penkov was on the opening and closing ceremony. For the second time such event was held in Sliven. (Two festivals were held in town of Troian). Hopefully this would become a tradition as the organizers promised.
There were given several awards. The movie "Omo – a journey to the primeval age” made by Slovakian Pavol Barabash won Grand-Prix of the festival. This movie presents unique images from river Omo in Ethiopia. The jury awarded with a special prize Polish film "Ciao, Martina” by Dariusz Zaluski. This author won award “Camera Extreme” too.
The Bulgarian movie "Thalay Sagar between the Sun and the shadow” was decorated with a special prize of Sliven's community and won award for soundtrack of the Festival Director. The prize for outdoor activity was won by German movie "High Above" of Till Middellshalwe and Rolland Schutz. The film "Everest’s Children” of Bulgarian mountaineer Dojchin Vasilev was decorated with a special prize of the Society of the Bulgarian filmmakers.
